COI are committed to ensuring all products and items returned to our warehouse are disposed of in an environmentally suitable manner, where possible.
We know you’ll want your office refurbishment to be as environmentally friendly as possible, which is why we recognise our responsibility to recycle materials wherever possible.
Combined Office Interiors are committed to ensuring all furniture and equipment returned to our warehouse is disposed of in an environmentally suitable manner, with preventable measures in place which stops used office furniture from ending up in the ever-expanding landfills.
When working on-site, we offer a service to remove unwanted items of furniture, along with the removal of all rubbish and packaging following an installation. Once removed from your office, we actively encourage a recycling process in partnership with our local recycling plant, when the office furniture cannot be reused or donated to a charity.
Operational Procedure – Reuse, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle
At Combined Office Interiors, we have implemented an efficient system for managing the removal and disposal of clients existing office furniture. We collaborate closely with local partners who specialise in office furniture recycling, prioritising both your preferences and environmental preservation. By avoiding detrimental landfill sites that contribute to environmental harm and the release of harmful gases, our partners help us repurpose and recycle your furniture effectively.
Reuse
Excess or redundant office furniture can be donated to schools, charities, SMEs, and other organisations as part of the sustainability assessment.
Remanufacture
Refurbishing furniture that is reaching the end of its lifecycle involves restoring it to a superior standard. Remanufacturing can also modify the appearance to align with an innovative design scheme or branding.
Repurpose
Instead of simply recycling redundant products, there are several repurposing options available that offer both sustainability and cost savings. These options include reupholstering fabricated products such as, screens, task seating or soft seating, adjusting the heights of existing tables, and incorporating mobility features to create more dynamic and flexible workspaces, just to mention a few.
Recycling
We make sure that our customers understand the importance of corporate responsibility and reduce their impact on the environment by implementing necessary measures. Our team actively listens to assess recycling requirements, conducts site visits to evaluate client office spaces and furniture, and offers recommendations for sustainable procurement in the future.

Procedure:
We will assess projects at the initial stages to identify options for reuse, remanufacturing, repurposing, and recycling.
The recycling operational procedure follows 5 easy methodology steps:
- Sustainability assessment (site survey) – to ascertain number of pieces suitable for reuse or recycling.
- Proposal to be supplied to client including pricing and timeframes.
- Upon approval we will agree a date where our team will dismantle all pieces of furniture ready for collection.
- Once collection has been facilitated, a waste transfer note will be provided.
- Upon request we can supply a recycling breakdown summary including the carbon savings associated with this.
Pricing:
From our site assessment, we will consider the following factors to prepare a fully priced quotation for the project:
- Location
- Accessibility (e.g., availability of parking facilities, ground floor access or access to lifts).
- Quantity of items for recycling.
Labour and transportation costs will be calculated separately based on the project program’s volume and timing. Please note that if we are delivering a new furniture project alongside the removal, we will include recycling costings into the total project proposal.
