Innovative office and educational furniture refurbishment at SCC’s Fire and Rescue Training Centre
With a long-standing relationship with the procurement team at Suffolk County Council and the Fire Service, Combined Office Interiors was delighted to be involved in the refurbishment of various areas at the dedicated training centre for operational staff in Wattisham, Suffolk.
Suffolk and Fire Rescue’s training centre is a vital part of ensuring the safety of communities throughout the region, with all from new recruits to the Chief Fire Officer visiting the centre in Wattisham to learn new skills and develop new competencies or review existing ones.
As part of the project-managed service, we attended site visits, prepared plans, and drawings, and also arranged showroom visits to ensure our clients had plenty of choices when it came to colours and product selection. The areas we focused on included welfare/quiet rooms, as well as essential spaces such as classrooms, command rooms, dining areas, and offices.
Office Areas:
We supplied beautiful white top bench-style desks with amber oak edges on stylish white frames. For seating, we supplied high-back ergonomic task chairs with arms, headrests, and pump-up lumber mechanisms.
Boat-shaped tables with oak legs, partnered with meeting chairs with integrated armrests, and upholstered seat pads with mesh backs.
Dining Area:
Dining tables finished in bright white with metal pedestal bases standard height and poseur height style, partnered with stackable plastic seats and backrest chairs and high chairs with metal four-legged frames.
Incident and Command Room:
Cantilever visitor-style chairs with metal frames, integrated armrests, with plastic seats, and back finish.
Classrooms:
Beautiful white top desks with amber oak edges on stylish white frames partnered with cantilever-style visitor chairs with integrated armrests, mesh backs, and upholstered seat pads.
Multi-purpose welfare/quiet room:
Multipurpose armchairs finished in a band 2 fabric.
Summary:
From the initial concept, the busy training centre has been reimagined and updated with a modern layout, ergonomic desk configurations and clever use of multipurpose solutions. These design elements, in combination with the sound delivery and installation service, meant the whole project was completed on time and to budget.
