Project Info:
The investment in the modernisation of Marlow Library involved a remodel and refurbishment programme spanning over 14 weeks managed by the Libraries team at Buckinghamshire Council.
COI has a longstanding and valuable connection with the libraries team having recently refurbished the main library in Aylesbury. COI was briefed to create an innovative design that would inspire and engage visitors of all ages, including the opportunity to propose a bright and appealing children’s space that incorporated original artwork created by Kirsty Harris, inspired by Marlow’s unique identity.
Set in the heart of Marlow, the newly refurbished library boasts improved computer facilities, a bright and inviting children’s zone with themed seating and sensory StoryWall®, various heights of library shelving, alongside a new meeting room, office, and staffroom furniture and equipment.
Shelving was positioned to define areas, with each area being given design treatment to suit the designated space and overall theme of the environment. Loose furniture was installed around the library along with soft seating and the addition of Covid hygiene protection screens to staff pods and IT/Study areas.
The library and local council are delighted with the overall result, as well as the community who use it.
