Project Info:
Funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), Coombe Wood School offers ultra-modern architecture and innovative loose furnishings to create inspirational learning facilities for 11–18-year-olds.
COI was thrilled to be part of the state-of-the-art refurbishment for one of the most popular learning centres in Croydon following an invitation to tender under a national framework agreement.
The primary design brief was to create a bright and vibrant space, ensuring the new learning environment offered versatility and durability to withstand the demands of school life and the flexibility to accommodate new styles of teaching and learning.
Our ‘one-stop-shop’ educational furniture solution included the refurbishment of inspiring classrooms, woodwork areas, science rooms, art suites, administration offices, and assembly hall furniture. We incorporated a clever use of materials to create a natural and fresh open space with accents of colour highlighted within the furniture selection.
COI project manager Paul Lobban communicated with the appointed contractors and the secondary school following the delayed opening of the building due to the Coronavirus pandemic which disrupted the building works at the school, to organise a 3-week delivery and installation schedule to ensure the School was ready for its anticipated opening during January 2021.
