The brand-new specialist school facilities in Kent has been designed for 120 pupils between the ages of 11 and 19 years old, who have moderate learning difficulties and who may have associated additional needs. Cleeve Meadow School shares the same site location with Cleeve Park School who are both parts of the TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust) that currently manage a family of academies across London and the South of England. Having the two Schools on the same site is an exciting ‘co-location’ provision which is great for the local community and the pupils who get to share the new and creative learning spaces for generations to come.
Our team worked alongside a national procurement organisation that tendered for the project with our innovative, durable, and affordable products. During this selection period and prior to the School making any important purchasing decisions, we were invited to attend an engagement meeting where staff and children could interact with the educational furniture specified by not only sight but with the opportunity to demo, feel and touch. This opportunity was fantastic for everyone involved including the school team and the children who helped make the final decision in the selection of furniture, fabrics, and colours.
In addition to providing high-quality furniture, we ensured all fabrics were fire retardancy treated to meet the flammability requirements of the School.

Product Insight
ICT Suite (see images)
We used curved seating to create a flow to the room, partnered with cube and cylinder scatter stools that provide an element of fun. We also used a combination of cantilever style workstations with mesh back operator chairs and plastic stacking seating.
Dining Area (see images)
We used a bench table and seating system, chosen for its clean modern lines and practicality.
Parents Room (see images)
The aim was to provide a neutral palette to allow the artwork to stand out from the gallery. Using wire framed furniture, it gave a modern uncluttered feel. The soft seating range provides comfort and embraces comfort and style.
Sixth Form Common Room (see images)
As a key social area for students we wanted to make this area fun and funky with comfortable sofa-style seating, coupled with cube and cylinder stools, and low tables to compliment the relaxed and mature style.
Sensory Room (see images)
We used a combination of high back sofa booths and upholstered nugget-style stools in a variety of fabric colours to enhance this sensory space. We wanted the design of this area to feel comfortable and relaxed for the students.
Cleeve Meadow School is set to open in September 2020.
