A Modern Furniture Transformation at a Bristol Secondary School.
A leading Multi-Academy Trust responsible for around 38 primary and secondary academies across England wanted to refresh a number of spaces within one of its secondary academies in Bristol.
As a trusted supplier on a national framework agreement, we were appointed to provide furniture and a complete project-managed service, helping the Trust achieve the right balance of quality, design, cost and service.
The Solution
The project focused on a range of areas across the school, with each space requiring a different approach to suit how pupils and staff use it.
Our furniture was supplied across several key areas of the school, including;
- Library,
- Common Room,
- IT Room,
- Physics Rooms,
- Study Area,
- Art Rooms,
- and a Sixth Form Rooftop Area.
Rather than simply supplying furniture, we worked with the academy throughout the project to understand the requirements of each area and develop practical solutions that worked within the available spaces.
The result was a collection of modern and welcoming environments. All designed around the way pupils learn, study, socialise and spend time at school.
Project Management
As part of our project-managed service, we handled the project from the early planning stages through to completion. This included detailed site surveys, space planning and design, followed by visuals and presentations to help the school and Trust see how the proposed spaces would look before making final decisions.
Once we agreed the designs, we coordinated the delivery and installation of the furniture. This ensured we managed the project right through to the completion.
The refurbishment has given the academy a more contemporary feel, while providing pupils with spaces that better reflect the different ways they use the school throughout the day. From focused study and independent learning in the library and quiet areas, to practical teaching in the physics and art rooms, the furniture was selected with the purpose of each space in mind.
The Sixth Form Rooftop Area also provided an opportunity to create something different. A more relaxed environment where older pupils can work, meet, and spend time away from the traditional classroom setting.
Summary:
The completed project has received positive feedback from the framework team, Multi-Academy Trust and, most importantly, the pupils using the spaces every day.
