Transforming learning spaces at E-Act North Birmingham Academy
We understand the positive impact an inspiring and functional learning environment can have on student progression and success. So, when E-ACT North Birmingham Academy sought to refurbish its educational spaces, including its library/study areas, and classrooms, we were delighted to offer our project-managed services to deliver a seamless furniture refurbishment.
Collaborating with ESPO and using the 282_22 Office Furniture Framework, our team at COI provided site visits, consultations, and detailed 3D rendered designs which brought our vision to life and showed the procurement team exactly how we proposed to make each learning space practical, engaging, and comfortable.
Once the proposal was agreed upon, we co-ordinated the logistics and completed the installation over a two-day period, meeting the target completion dates, and budgetary requirements.
The library and study space were designed specifically for sixth-form students, giving them an adult-inspired environment to collaborate with their peers in group seating arrangements, while offering quiet zones for individual study and focus work.
In this area, we provided:
- Versatile, dual-purpose curved shelving units with integrated upholstered seating
- Library book spinners
- Wooden bookcases
- Coffee tables
- Fully upholstered bench seating
- Circular bench and table units
- Modular soft seating
- Fully upholstered poufs on castors
- Medium back operator chairs with PCB
Student Educational & Library Furniture – Summary
We also provided furniture for several classrooms, including teacher desks with fixed pedestals, ergonomic operator chairs, durable mobile student tables, and stackable chairs. Every piece of furniture was carefully selected to meet the schools’ aesthetic goals while ensuring they are long-lasting, even in high-traffic areas. By introducing modular and flexible furniture throughout the school, teachers and students have more control over how they use the space.
We’re truly delighted with the transformation at North Birmingham Academy, the new learning spaces are inspiring and provide a supportive environment for students and teachers alike.
North Birmingham Academy recently completed a school extension project that included the design and supply of furniture for a new library and a lecture classroom.
